Sins confessed

When’s the last time you’ve been to Confession?  To Whom?

No small wonder that the laity have trouble going to Confession from men that do not go to Confession!  “Do what I tell you, not what I do!”  This is not a very effective strategy for doing the Lord’s will and way.

We don’t have to wonder about the Pope, or how often he goes to Confession.  It is common knowledge…..nothing to hide!

7 Capital Sins apply to
everyone!

I had the rude awakening of my life when in discussion on the topic, I asked the Dean of a Diocese,  when was the last time they went to Confession.  Stuttering and stammering, the Dean explained with a startled, “I don’t have to tell you, No, I won’t tell you!”  The indignation was filled with the resentment that a lowly layman would even dare ask a Priest such a question.

A Parish Priest began much in the same startled way, and in an aristocratic tone explained his exposure to the world in his work of thirty plus years and he did not have to answer the question.  Humility and indignation are not brothers of the same destiny!  Neither of these Priests will bring many parishioners to contrition and Confession.  They will invite “all” to the Holy Eucharist without impressing the need for preparedness for It!  Their Confessional line will not impress anyone, let alone God.

If Confession is not in your life and agenda, in your everyday dialogue, you will not obtain results of great oratory works from the pulpit.  Great leaders are followed because they LEAD and set the EXAMPLE!
